Is our brain hardwired to produce God, or is our brain hardwired to perceive God? A systematic review on the role of the brain in mediating religious…
2009
To figure out whether the main empirical question "Is our brain hardwired to believe in and produce God, or is our brain hardwired to perceive and experience God?" is answered, this paper presents systematic critical review of the positions, arguments and controversies of each side of the neuroscientific–theological debate and puts forward an integral view where the human is seen as a psycho-somatic entity consisting of the multiple levels and dimensions of human existence (physical, biological, psychological, and spiritual reality), allowing consciousness/ mind/spirit and brain/body/matter to be seen as different sides of the same phenomenon, neither reducible to each other. The emergence …
Mechanism of Anesthetic Action: Oxygen Pathway Perturbation Hypothesis
2001
Although more than 150 years have past since the discovery of general anesthetics, how they precisely work remains a mystery. We propose a novel unitary mechanism of general anesthesia verifiable by experiments. In the proposed mechanism, general anesthetics perturb oxygen pathways in both membranes and oxygen-utilizing proteins such that the availabilities of oxygen to its sites of utilization are reduced which in turn triggers cascading cellular responses through oxygen-sensing mechanisms resulting in general anesthesia. Despite the general assumption that cell membranes are readily permeable to oxygen, exiting publications indicate that these membranes are plausible oxygen transport barr…
Trends in Adolescent Overweight Perception and Its Association With Psychosomatic Health 2002–2014 : Evidence From 33 Countries
2017
Purpose Perceiving oneself as overweight is common and strongly associated with adolescents' subjective well-being. The prevalence of overweight perceptions and their impact on well-being may have increased over the past decade due to an increase in the salience of weight-related issues. This study examines trends (2002–2014) in the prevalence of adolescent overweight perceptions and their association with psychosomatic complaints. Methods Data from 15-year-old adolescents were obtained between 2002 and 2014 in four rounds of the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study in 33 countries in Europe and North America (N = 187,511). Design-adjusted logistic regressions were used to quantif…
C.G. Jung’s Synchronicity and Quantum Entanglement: Schrodinger’s Cat ‘Wanders’ Between Chromosomes
2011
One of the most prospective directions of study of C.G. Jung’s synchronicity phenomenon is reviewed considering the latest achievements of modern science. The attention is focused mainly on the quantum entanglement and related phenomena – quantum coherence and quantum superposition. It is shown that the quantum non-locality capable of solving the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox represents one of the most adequate physical mechanisms in terms of conformity with the Jung’s synchronicity hypothesis. An attempt is made on psychophysiological substantiation of synchronicity within the context of molecular biology. An original concept is proposed, stating that biological molecules involved in cel…

Hen and egg problems of biology from TGD point of view
2022
Biology has several hen and egg problems. What came first: DNA,RNA, amino-acids or proto-cell membrane? Did metabolism precede genetic code or vice versa? The stimulus leading to this article could have been the finding that organic molecules are formed in interstellar space at ultralow temperatures of few Kelvin in which chemistry should freeze completely. Therefore the formation of glycine peptides, which has been demonstrated in the laboratory, should be impossible. The paradox disappears in the TGD framework as do also the hen and egg problems. Magnetic body carrying dark matter as $h_{eff}=nh_0$ phases allows a universal realization of genetic code and of the analogs of basic bio-molec…
Молитва как связующее звено между духовным и физическим в психике человека (о встрече и взаимодействии двух природ в психологической доминанте). Lūgš…
The report discusses the importance of prayer in the biblical tradition. We describe the mechanism of prayer in the light of the principle of the dominant of Ukhtomsky. It also provides scientific evidence of the influence of prayer. Evaluated the efficacy of prayer.
Creation theory and related scientific questions (in Latvian)
This article discusses recent discoveries from creationist sources and common media that invite for the search of explanations alternative to classic evolutionism. Among the topical issues is the actual nature of dinosaurs and their possible co-existence with the modern man. Evidence exists for a global catastrophe that is reflected both in the fossil record and periodic climate changes. The mankind may have appeared on the earth without transition through primitive forms.
Natural world physical, brain operational, and mind phenomenal space–time
2010
Concepts of space and time are widely developed in physics. However, there is a considerable lack of biologically plausible theoretical frameworks that can demonstrate how space and time dimensions are implemented in the activity of the most complex life-system - the brain with a mind. Brain activity is organized both temporally and spatially, thus representing space-time in the brain. Critical analysis of recent research on the space-time organization of the brain's activity pointed to the existence of so-called operational space-time in the brain. This space-time is limited to the execution of brain operations of differing complexity. During each such brain operation a particular short-te…
